Stencil Figures

Here are some mail art postcards. How did I make these? First, I cut out some figures in various poses. Then I selected some already-painted postcards. I set the figure on the postcard and then painted over the whole thing. The figure acted as a stencil.

When I peeled up the figure, I had a stenciled postcard and a painted figure to go into some other composition later on. Some postcards got some words to say and others are just quiet pictures.

Try this technique. It’s always a surprise what will emerge.

Thank you. I like doing these. I like cutting out the figures, painting the cards, and then seeing the stencil do its work plus having a little painted figure to put somewhere else. I like the surprises I get doing this!
