Recent Arrivals in Town

I just made these in the last two or three weeks, I forget exactly when…I’ve got a whole pile of sticks ready to express themselves, so I’m sure more will be joining them. I had given away all the ones I made earlier in the year, so it was feeling a little lonely around the house.

Thank you. I really like making them and it’s addictive. Even looking for the right kind of sticks to use is a treasure-hunt process, I like that, too.

I love everything about them. Their lips, their eyes, their … everything. It’s wonderful what you do, leaving them and the figurines for strangers to find. I always imagine how the finders must feel, like they’re stumbled upon a gem and — wow — they’re meant to have it! One of life’s not-often-enough magical moments.

You are very nice to these ladies, thank you! I enjoy the art drop off thing, I imagine the same thing you do, how people feel when they spy one and take it up.

After I get though the poetry marathon I’ll send you one of these ladies. Putting it on my list.

She stayed in town here only a short time and then she moved a LONG way away, looks like! Keep an eye on her, she’s got sand in her shoes, I think.

Oh no. I am feeling for you. An art block has never happened to me, but then, I count stick ladies and such as art, so it fills in any gaps, I guess. Even knitting. I may be in denial. Anyway, If art deserted me I would be bereft. I am glad you are back to more of yourself. Your art is a treasure to me.

She had a good trip getting here, her sleeping arrangements were very comfortable. Then we discussed the relative merits of glossy and matte lipsticks and the multitudinous shades of red. We get along very well.

I’m so happy. It’s hard to find compatibility in this world. And I’m also happy to hear her trip was comfortable, I did wonder, with such travel companions, but when you set out from home, you must take the people as you find them, right?!?
