We pretended it was a river for our small boats made out of scrap wood and we used to set them in the water and chase them downstream as the current carried them away. We could go alongside the creek for a good ways before it ran under a road and into the lake. Sometimes you had to plunge into the creek to catch your vessel before it went into the culvert under the road – and that water was always cold…

    Yes. without it I think it would be pretty humdrum, monotonous and lacking drama.

    We spent a lot of time at our creek, which was not much more than a ditch, but great for us and our imaginations.
