Pull Victory Out of Defeat

Here’s how. Make a drawing with the Chinese brush and ink, in Art Camp Claudia McGill (summer 2016, remember?) and decide later on that you just have to cut it into pieces. In fact, you feel compelled to grab a couple and take the scissors to them all! Choose the ATC size, just for fun 2.5″ x 3.5″.

Then see if you can figure out an image or idea from the remains. Color it with your markers.

You could end up with something like this. It’s a narrow definition of success, maybe, but it’s better than the recycling bin?

It’s always my impulse to try to salvage something from the wreck of whatever artwork I have decided can’t continue to exist in its present form! And usually it works out for the better. I think I seem to see something new in the pieces that, when they were a whole, were hopeless.
