In My Mind’s Eye

In a book I was reading, there was a description of a setting – a house with a hill rising at the back, a wall around the front yard. As I read it, I vividly saw the scene, and here I have painted it.

Thank you. It doesn’t happen often to me, but I felt compelled to do this painting – the image really sprang up so strongly. Now I could start saying — mysterious forces at work, latent past lives, whatever — and the experience gets even better to think about, to my mind!

And it’s funny, it’s how I saw the house in my mind. I was also reminded of the house in Josephine Tey’s The Franchise Affair, although of course that house had windows, but maybe it was the closed-in feeling.
